A notice was submitted today to ARRL for publication in the April QST magazine well ahead of the February 1st deadline for April publication. I hope we can generate a lot of hungry hunters to be looking for us April 17 – 20, 2026.

FAQ Document Update
The FLPOTA Committee met last week and reviewed several questions concerning how Club Station activators should keep and submit logs for the contest. We have published an updated revision of the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document to the website to address the answer to this question: https://fspota.org/wp-content/uploads/FAQ-FSPOTA.pdf
We also established some marketing objectives for January and February that will help to promote this event to Florida amateurs, clubs, and POTA enthusiasts. Please help us to spread the word about this contest coming April 17-20, 2026. Lets get more amateurs interested in POTA operations and in getting out of the shack and into the fresh air at our many great state parks.

Final 2026 Rules Published
The Tamiami ARC, Florida State Parks on the Air committee is pleased to announce the publication of the final rules for the April 17-20, 2026 contest event. The rules, the “official parks list”, and FAQ for the event can be viewed on the event website:
https://fspota.org/rules/Beginning in January, 2026 the committee will begin an aggressive advertising campaign to promote this event to the amateur radio community in Florida and, via ARRL resources, to the nation as well. Our hope is to attract 100’s of participating individuals and clubs, and to come close to activating all 174 eligible park entities in the State.

Draft 2026 Rules Published
Our rules committee has published a draft of the proposed rules for the 2026 Florida State POTA contest to be held in April of 2026. Comments and suggestions from the amateur radio community are requested. Please feel free to suggest ideas for the conduct of this event. Send your comments to:

2026 Event Date Set
The 2026 Florida State POTA contest will be held on the weekend of April 18 and 19, 2026. Revised rules are currently being developed and should be published before the end of 2025.

2026 Event
In 2026 Easter is on the first Sunday of April. We are currently evaluating the best alternate date to hold this year’s FLSPOTA event. The Georga State POTA organization has already announced that they will hold their event on the 3rd weekend in April. We don’t know about the Alabama event. Stayed tuned for updates!
